Renaissance

The face in this picture was taken with a shutter speed of 1/60th of a second. The f-stop for the face in this picture was set to f-8. I used two main lights in order to match the lighting in this painting. I fiddled with the lights until I got them in a position where the lighting on my subject's face matched the lighting of the woman's face in the painting. To make my edited picture more realistic, I got my subject to do her best to mock the woman in the painting's facial expression and head angle. The original picture is shown below. The original picture:
The original picture was painted during the renaissance time period. The renaissance is known as 1450 to 1600. This time period was in-between the end of the Middle Ages and the start of the Modern Age. The renaissance was a time period of development and advancement. Art, science, fashion, philosophy, literature, and way of living all developed and advanced significantly throughout the renaissance time period. Famous and popular artists from the renaissance include Masaccio, Donatello, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Titian, Tintoretto, Bellini, Botticelli, Caravaggio, Ghiberti, Giotto,Raphael, and many others. The above painting was painted by Sandro Botticelli, a famous Italian painter from the renaissance time period. Botticelli always did his best to bring life to his paintings. Botticelli learned to paint from and was inspired by Filippo Lippi. Some of Botticelli's most famous and well-known paintings are Adoration of the Magi, Birth of Venus, Chart of Hell, Fortitude,Portrait of a Young Man with a Medal, and Venus and Mars. Botticelli focused mainly on portrait paintings (which made him successful at bringing life to paintings). The painting above is known as "Portrait of a Young Woman". This painting was done in 1460. This painting is a tempera painting.I feel that this painting expresses a sense of mystery as the viewer does not know what the woman in the painting is looking at. This painting showcases Botticelli's ability to bring life to paintings, as well as his portrait talents. The woman in this painting also well represents the renaissance time period, as her dress was a popular dress style during the renaissance, as well as her hairstyle.
